Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) are one of the most convenient and energy efficient forms of insulation available to the building market. This type of panel system is considered to be high-performance with generous R-values for the wall and roof panels. Typical panel systems usually consist of a solid foam core "sandwiched" between two pieces of oriented strand board (OSB). SIPS are often used for residential construction and some light commercial construction. SIPS can be applied to build fully panelized homes, additions or garages and are most often used to insulate and shell timber frame homes.
Our eSIPS product is similar to structural insulated panels with two major exceptions: We leave the inside wall open or "exposed" so that mechanicals can be easily installed, and second, the foam infill is partially made with BioBased 1701 soy foam insulation which replaces a portion of petroleum products. The eSIPS panelized building system is a great alternative building method to SIPs construction.
