Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) are one of the most convenient and energy efficient forms of insulation available to the building market. This type of panel system is considered to be high-performance with generous R-values for the wall and roof panels. Typical panel systems usually consist of a solid foam core "sandwiched" between two pieces of oriented strand board (OSB). SIPS are often used for residential construction and some light commercial construction. SIPS can be applied to build fully panelized homes, additions or garages and are most often used to insulate and shell timber frame homes.
Our eSIPS product is similar to a more traditional structural insulated panel with two major exceptions: We leave the inside wall open or "exposed" so that mechanicals can be easily installed, and second, the foam infill is partially made with BioBased 1701 soy foam insulation which replaces a portion of petroleum products. We like to think of eSIPS as a greener panel. However, for more traditional timber frame applications with our sister company, Davis Timber Frames, we still rely on our friends at Foard and Murus panel companies for their great products because their application with true timber frame construction is superior. Our Energy Smart Insulated Panel System is best suited for panelized homes, hybrid timber frame homes (partial timber frame with use of a SIP panel system), garages, additions, barns, and more. In these instances, we can produce a fantastic energy efficient, green home that is affordable, constructed in a controlled environment, and designed to your exact specifications.
